After another wonderful breakfast at the Marriott, we were off on our final ride of the rally. Despite the early morning fog, we again have a gorgeous biking day with a starting temperature of 46 degrees warming to 62 as we finished our ride.
We biked out of Florence, across the Wilson Dam and into the surrounding countryside towards Tuscumbia, AL—the site of Helen Keller’s birth home. This was an unexpected surprise. The property was not open for tours today but I was able to get a few pictures and also pluck an ivy leaf from the front gates of the property.
We were finished riding by 10:00 a.m. and checked out by 11:00 geared to drive north towards the Meriwether Lewis site along the Natchez Trace Parkway (mile post 386) to extend our southern riding for two more days.
