Unplanned Route

Altura Loop: 45.4 miles
Stats: Computer out of order

Our plan today was to bike to Dover for lunch but the biking was going so well and the weather was cooperating so we decided to venture onto the newly-paved County 10 towards Elba. We never planned to bike the complete Altura Loop telling ourselves it was too early in the season for the challenge but we soon realized we were committed to getting this done.

We stopped at all our hangouts along the way and enjoyed visiting with the locals. Many had questions about our travels and we always enjoy their surprised faces as we share some of our biking adventures.

After biking in 3 counties (Winona, Olmsted, Wabasha), we were excited to see home. It was a wonderful day of biking and we are enjoying this early start to our season. Temperatures today ranged from 33-40° with winds at 2-4 mph out of the NNE. We must take advantage of each day and get out and play.

Heat Wave Ride

Amish Market and Home: 9.17 miles
Stats: Ride Time was 52 minutes, average speed: 10.4

The temperature reached 44° today while we were out on the bikes but the wind was strong enough to add quite a bit of resistance. We made it to the Amish Market and then reversed our route enjoying the same strong winds as we pedaled back home.

NO Snowmobile Ride

Dover Loop: 20.46 miles
Stats: Ride Time was 1 hour 50 minutes, average speed: 11.0

After the purchase of a newer snowmobile this year, we were excited to get snow to use it. It was not to happen but we were able to get the bikes out early in February to relieve our need to get physical. We biked to Dover for lunch at the Roadhouse and then back home despite the 30° temperature. It’s always great to be back on the bike when a new season arrives. We termed this ride our NO SNOW MOBILE ride.
